There are few places in the world more iconic than Venice. From the canals to the gondolas to the bridges to the piazzas, everywhere you turn there's a photo op. And when you are tired of wandering through Venice, the islands of Murano and Burano await you. We spent three full days exploring as much of this place as possible. We even 'lucked out' and got to experience one of Venice's many flood days (wet shoes all day is no fun).
Murano is famous for its glassblowing and we were amazed at the incredible creativity and attention to detail.
Burano is home to endless lace shops but it was the colours that blew us away (as well as the windy, rainy, stormy weather). We definitely saw enough of the famous Venice sights but it was wandering through the alleys and exploring new neighbourhoods that really intrigued us. Venice did not disappoint (and we knew it wouldn't).
