Under The Tuscan Sun

I have fallen in love all over again! There are few things I love or enjoy more than experiencing Tuscany by driving it. We had endless days of glorious sunshine as we explored the hills and valleys of this beautiful region of Italy.

First of all it was wonderful to come back to Tavernelle where we were so warmly hosted five years ago. It felt like a homecoming as Annamarie and her family welcomed us back to Casa Gabriela. We enjoyed the pool (cooled to a Canadian temperature) and wandered through our hometown streets daily. The best part of each of our days was when we felt like we were coming home at the end of a day of exploring.

We spent every day driving in a different direction searching for new towns and villages to discover. Besides the obvious more famous sights, there are plenty of interesting places next door like Barberino, Tignano, San Donata, Petrognana and so many more.

The nearby monastery of Badia a Passignano dates back over a thousand years and we were fortunate (thanks to Annamarie) to be given a guided tour by one of the monks. It was a very special experience.

It was the countryside that captured our hearts. Everywhere we looked the hillsides were covered with golden grape leaves due to the early Fall. Tuscany in the sunshine is hard to beat!
