Parcs de Paris

Parisians may work hard but they excel at resting. From the cafes on each corner to the parks spread out throughout the city, there are endless opportunities to take a break. We enjoyed walking through Paris which meant taking advantage of parks to rest and people watch. Jardin de Tuileries is the main park just west of the Louvre with people gathering around the pools to read or just relax.

Luxembourg Gardens is found in the Latin Quarter and is filled on sunny days (and most other days) with people reading and playing sports, children sailing their boats and riding ponies, and  everybody just soaking up the sun.

Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is found in the northeast part of the city and has a 'temple' perched on top of a cliff overlooking a lake.

Jardin du Palais-Royal is an old palace just north of the Louvre with an inner courtyard where you can escape the hubbub of the city outside.

Pere Lachaise is the largest cemetery in the city of Paris and is the most visited cemetery in the world because of its famous 'residents' Jim Morrison, Oscar Wilde, and many others. It is also a great place to go for a quiet stroll.
