Once again we learned that the world is a wonderful place filled with friendly, helpful people. We found ourselves feeling at home in so many different places because the welcome we received was so warm. One of the best parts about meeting local people is that we learned so much from them about their history, their families, and their dreams for the future. There were many times that we were given information about a local site that wouldn't be found in any guide book or on line review. That led to numerous wonderful experiences that we won't ever forget. And now we have made new friends in many different corners of the world.

Many of our hosts were Airbnb people who not only used their homes or apartments to make an income but also wanted to connect with people from all over the world. We really enjoyed getting to know them and share stories with them. We found some Mennonite Your Way stays that were very welcoming and made us feel like we were at home. We didn't do many hotel stays but when we did, we found many helpful people who helped us plan our excursions and give us tips on everything from groceries to laundry. We also stayed with people from our previous trip or met them at their new home which meant we had lots of catching up to do. We were especially blessed when we celebrated Bernie's birthday with Audrey Garcia who hosted us the last time we were in Provence.

Travel is at it's best when it is a shared experience. Not only did we enjoy traveling together once again as a family, we also go to meet our good friends Jason and Michelle Shepherd and their children Ryanne and Colby in Rome. What a fantastic week it was wandering through all the incredible sights together. Costa Rica was special for many reasons but exploring this fascinating and beautiful country with John and Linda Janzen (Bernie's brother and sister in law) made it even more memorable. And lastly, Matthew got to hang out with the surfer crowd in Gran Pacifica. Donald Green, his Aussie instructor, and his friends made sure Matthew felt comfortable taking on his new sport. People is what traveling is all about. Thanks for making our trip a journey to remember.
